Grey Sage

A Grey Sage of Lhankor Mhy.

Lhankor Mhy is the Orlanthi god of knowledge, law and writing. His priests are usually the only people able to read or write in their entire clan, and they traditionally take the tasks of lawspeakers and keepers of the clan knowledge and traditions.

Grey Sages, as his priests are called, must aways wear a long beard, emulating their god. Since the cult has no restrictions on gender, this rule also applies to women, like the one depicted. Because of this requirement by their cult women (as well as men who can't grow a long enough beard, or races which have no natural facial hair) wear artificial beards made out of animal hair, bark or metal. Those beards are usually very highly decorated and ornamental.
